3 Characteristics

1. rocky- The asteriod belt is very rocky because of all the asteriods it has.
2. planetesimals- Asteriods are planetesimals  (building blocks of planets) left over from the birth of our solar system, which make up the asteriod belt.
3. wide- The asteriod belt is 60 miles wide and "stands" between the orbit of Mars and Jupiter.
